of a beloved pet.
A Certificate of Authentication is sent to the purchaser with the signature of artist to keep with your artwork.
Please notify me if you require a background, this doesn't have to be the same as the photograph provided, it can be a colour that suits your room, or it can be a countries flag for example, or just left white, its totally up to you.
Reference photos must be of good resolution, not pixilated when
zoomed in. The end result can only be as good as
the photo provided.

Photographing your pet.
I like to work very closely with my clients and I am not happy until you are 100% satisfied with your unique portrait. I use photographs to draw from, and I ask my clients to provide a selection to generate a true likeness with the finished portrait.
PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS - My aim when producing your portrait is to create a drawing that you can treasure for many years to come. To do this, one of the most important things in commissioning your portrait is to ensure I can work from a good photograph. I cannot emphasise enough that 'the better the photo, the better the finished portrait'. I sadly have to turn away many photographs because of issues with quality, but don't worry - I am here to help you get the best photograph possible and give you as much advice as you need.
LEVELS - Take the photo at eye level with your pet. Photos looking down on your pet look unflattering and unnatural to the eye. The best angles are with your pet looking straight at you or with their head slightly tilted to one side looking past the camera.
QUALITY - The very first thing I look for in a photograph is the quality. As a highly detailed artist I am attracted to detail like a bee to honey, so the more detail in a photo the better your portrait will be. This is especially important for your pet's key features such as their eyes and nose. It is crucial that the photo is sharp and in focus. Sadly, I am unable to work from blurry photos.
LIGHTING - Take your pet's photo in natural light, preferably outdoors. The best time is on a bright overcast day but not in direct sunlight as this can sometimes cast unflattering shadows. Black animals do however look better in sunlight, facing the sun but with no dark shadows cast so you can see the whole face.
Turn Flash 'OFF' - Please NEVER use flash. Flash causes a number of problems and looks very unflattering. It often masks out a lot of detail, causes unnatural shadows and colours, and can often result in the dreaded red-eye or eye glowing effect
Acceptable Formats : JPG (High Resolution JPEG), TIFF (High Resolution TIFF), .BMP, & .PNG
Please send your photographs if you are not sure before making a payment

What animals can I request for a painting?
Any animals are considered as long as good photographs are provided.
Can I request more than one painting?
Of course you can.
If you have two or three pets that you wish to have painted separately, just order separate listings for each one.
If you have two or three pets that you wish to have painted separately, just order separate listings for each one.
How long will my order take?
Artwork should take no more than 7-10 working days per pet, prints may take longer due to postage constraints. Those guidelines can be pushed in busy times like the Christmas period, so please consider ordering early to beat the rush. If you do need your portrait by a specific date, please let me know and I will see if this can be done, always give at least 14 days notice. Of course there are no guarantees of you getting your printed artwork on time due to shipping delays which are out of my control, but I will always try my best.
Can I order more than one print of my pet portrait?
Yes of course you can, you will only be charged for the print price & extra postage costs, not the artwork costs. Hey you might even want a pillow printed, which is something else I can arrange. I will keep your artwork on file for 10 years, so if your print suffers any damage in that time, you will be able to order another one, that's the beauty of having digital files.
Do you post worldwide?
At the present time I post to United Kingdom, U.S.A, Canada, New Zealand & Australia.
What about a refund?
I only offer refunds if you are truly not happy with your purchase, but artwork needs to be returned to me in New Zealand before a refund is completed, you will not be refunded the postage of the item, only what was paid for the original artwork. Digital downloads are non-refundable.
Taxes & import duties
Sketchwerx is not responsible to pay the import duties, taxes, or tariffs imposed when ordering or importing products into countries other than Australia or New Zealand. It is required by law to declare full value (purchase price) of the product on any waybills or customs documentation. We cannot declare a lower value on your package than the purchase price that you paid. Thank you for your understanding.
